Injuries are a part of life in the NFL. No team is immune to the inevitable knocks that players take throughout the season. But it's hard not to feel like the New York Giants have had an unfortunate run of injury luck this year.

Three of the most important players on the roster (Jaxson Dart, Brian Burns, and Tremaine Edmunds) have already sustained season-ending injuries. Both offensive tackles have been banged up at various points. Still, Big Blue sits atop the NFC East heading into a critical matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 9.

The injury woes haven't stopped, though. The G-Men could be without Cam Skattebo for this game, leaving their running back room alarmingly thin.

With Friday's practice reports in the books, let's check in on the status of a couple of the Giants' most important injuries.

Giants' final injury report before Week 9 Eagles matchup

Cam Skattebo, RB (Hamstring)

Game Status: Doubtful

Skattebo suffered a hamstring injury during his long run in overtime against the Houston Texans. He put his body on the line for the win, literally. Even after the bye week, he still isn't trending toward playing on Sunday.

The second-year back missed practice on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, receiving a "doubtful" designation on the team's final injury report.

If Skattebo doesn't play, the weight of the running back room will be placed on the shoulders of veteran Devin Singletary and rookie UDFA Greg Desrosiers Jr. In all likelihood, Phil Mafah would be promoted to the active roster to add a third option.

Malik Nabers, WR (Knee)

Game Status: No Injury Designation

After spending the entire offseason wondering about his recovery from the knee injury that ended his 2025 campaign, it was gut-wrenching to see Malik Nabers pop up on the injury report with a knee issue again. No need to worry, though; It looks like he'll be just fine.

Nabers didn't practice on Thursday, but he was a full participant on Friday and doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game.

It's a good thing he's ready to go, because the G-Men haven't found much production from the rest of their receiver room. As encouraging as Malachi Fields' progression has been, nobody wants to see him take on WR1 responsibilities against this Eagles secondary.

All things considered, the Giants' injury report has been mostly positive this week. Skattebo may not suit up, but for the most part, this will be the same team that took down the Texans.

DeVonta Smith injury leaves Giants' defense with no excuses

The Giants can't complain too much about injury luck, at least not while the Eagles are around. They've lost their starting quarterback for the year, too, and the injury bug has worked its way through the rest of the roster.

This week, Philadelphia will be thin at wide receiver once again. DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks were both ruled out for Sunday's game, leaving Makai Lemon, Darius Cooper, and Hollywood Brown to take on the bulk of the receiving work.

New York's secondary might not be elite, but it should be able to handle this group of pass-catchers, especially with Joe Milton III at quarterback. Dennard Wilson's secondary should have its best performance of the year in Week 9.
