It's evident that this season has been a failure for the New York Giants, who exit their Week 14 bye sitting at 2-11 and have already been eliminated from playoff contention. Not only are Big Blue’s playoff hopes dead, but they currently own the first overall pick in next year’s NFL Draft.
Despite another disappointing season for the G-Men, there’s plenty to look forward to for the future, as Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo will both be returning from season-ending injuries, and they’ll have a full season of their franchise quarterback, Jaxson Dart, starting, and they will have a top prospect to go along with it.

Plenty of things to look forward to for the Giants' next head coach as well, whom Joe Schoen will lead the search for. Not only does the front office believe Schoen is still the man for the job, but so does Dart, who opened up on his relationship with Big Blue’s general manager.
Jaxson Dart opened up on his relationship with Joe Schoen
The rookie quarterback spoke to the media earlier this week and spoke highly of the franchise’s general manager, who many believed would be relieved when former head coach Brian Daboll was fired. Since then, the organization has released a statement that said Schoen would remain as GM and lead the search for the team’s next head coach.
Dart told the New York Post that he has a great relationship with Schoen, saying, “He’s the one who drafted me, so I definitely have a great relationship with Joe.” If that doesn’t tell you the direction the franchise is moving in or how Dart feels about playing for the Giants, then I don't know what does.
Big Blue has its franchise quarterback set for years to come and is retaining the front office exec who gave him this opportunity. That should also provide some clarity on what the team will do in the NFL Draft if it still has the first overall pick this offseason.
Big Blue would likely trade down to a team that is desperate to address the quarterback position and look to add a first-round pick in this year’s draft and a haul of future picks. There’s no need to draft another quarterback when Dart is already here, especially if he’s on the same page with the man who is calling the shots and making crucial decisions.
If the Giants want to do this rebuild right, Schoen should take a page out of the Patriots' book and ensure they get this head coaching hire right. It’s important to consider Dart when hiring the next head coach, as they will be vital to the quarterback’s development and help shape the franchise's future.
