Giants just scored a win over Eagles fans that could destroy their future

Is this the beginning of the end?

When the Las Vegas Raiders announced the hiring of Anthony Patch as a Senior Personnel Executive this week, it was a major value-add to the Raiders’ front office while simultaneously quietly sending a gut punch to the Philadelphia Eagles’ inner circle. New York Giants fans, this one’s worth savoring.

Patch spent the last 23 years in Philly’s front office, specifically the scouting department. He started as a college scouting coordinator and climbed his way into one of the most trusted roles on de facto general manager Howie Roseman’s staff. Two Lombardi Trophies. Four Super Bowl appearances. A playoff berth in 15 of 23 seasons. He surely wasn’t the face of the franchise—but he helped build it.

Now? He’s out of the NFC East entirely, and for once, it didn’t take an Eagles playoff collapse for Giants fans to enjoy the view.

Philly loses a builder—and Big Blue just gained breathing room

Patch leaving isn’t some “next man up” moment for the Eagles. He was Roseman’s most trusted college scouting voice—the one with the clipboard in the war room, not just the nametag in the hallway. His influence helped shape the rosters that got Philly to the top, especially when it came to finding depth and value in the middle rounds.

It's not hard to imagine he played a massive role in drafting guys like Jalen Hurts, Cam Jurgens, Josh Sweat, Jalen Carter, and throwbacks like LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson, Fletcher Cox, and Brandon Graham. Sooo... it's pretty sweet that he's gone now.

His fingerprints were all over this most recent draft class too. From Jihaad Campbell and Andrew Mukuba on defense to a flurry of Day 3 developmental picks like Drew Kendall and Antwaun Powell-Ryland, the Eagles loaded up again—and odds are, Patch had a big say in that haul. But here’s the thing: that might’ve been the last time they get to enjoy the results of his work (fingers crossed).

The real test is coming next spring when the Eagles try to reload without their scouting cornerstone in the room. That’s not just about job titles—that’s about trust, cohesion, and process. All of which takes a hit when someone like Patch walks out the door.

For the G-Men, that’s a subtle edge worth watching. General manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll are stacking consecutive strong classes and building a foundation. Meanwhile, Philly’s front office just got a little shakier—and no amount of spin from Eagles PR changes that.

Patch is gone. His exit leaves a hole the Eagles can’t just patch over (pun very much intended). And if this latest draft class ends up being another hit for Philly? Eagles fans can enjoy it because it might be the last one they can thank him for. And that’s reason enough for Giants fans to celebrate.
