The 2026 NFL season is fast approaching. With discussion about the upcoming Draft and the New York Giants’ No. 5 pick, there’s plenty of buzz around this growing team.
But not all of the conversation is centered on the future. A Giants legend had notable comments about one of the more polarizing topics of the offseason. As fans and some players consider an Odell Beckham Jr. reunion, Carl Banks shared his perspective.
Count the legend as a supporter of bringing the 33-year-old home:
"I don't have a problem with his presence in the locker room. He's no longer the guy who magically sucks the oxygen out of the room. He's, you know, he's an established NFL player. I think the aura of Odell Beckham has kind of -- we've all absorbed it, right? So he's a pro now."

Carl Banks offers blunt take on Odell Beckham Jr. return rumors
Before joining the Rams and Ravens, the Giants pursued OBJ. He may have chased a ring after securing his contract, but the Giants were not Super Bowl contenders then.
With this context in mind, this upcoming season looks a lot more appealing, thanks to a renewed offense and a head coach with a Hall of Fame trajectory. Things are different now.

Jaxson Dart is a versatile young quarterback, and his potential to become a prominent name in Giants history is evident. That might be the thing that seals the deal to bring OBJ back to the Giants faithful.
This is the most important part about what Banks said. Nabers is young, raw, and has that emotional side that defined Beckham Jr.’s early career antics. The kicking-net incident, on-field fights with Josh Norman, and toxicity on the sidelines were weekly occurrences for the former LSU star back in the day.
Not to say that Nabers would ever get to that point, but under the amount of pressure to succeed in the Big Blue uniform, anything can happen. And, there is a perfect solution to make sure that never happens.
Bring in the wiser and more experienced Beckham to help prevent issues. Give Nabers a leader in the WR room who has been there and done that.
Nabers is poised to be the next big thing in the NFL, rivaling Minnesota’s Justin Jefferson and Cincinnati’s Ja'Marr Chase. Beckham Jr. was the cream of the crop at one point in his career, so who better to listen to than the man himself? The insight alone, never mind what he does on the field, can help Nabers exponentially.
The only tricky part here is finding the playing time for No. 13, as Darnell Mooney and Darius Slayton are going to be lobbying for the ball. But, there is always a chance to find some kind of wiggle room for a talent like OBJ.
