The New York Giants made several moves on Monday morning, which left fans hyped about what next year’s roster could look like for year one of the John Harbaugh era.
The G-Men worked out and signed three veteran wide receivers: Braxton Berrios, replacing Gunner Olszewski after his Achilles injury; JuJu Smith-Schuster, who played under Matt Nagy in Kansas City; and Odell Beckham Jr., whose return has long been awaited by Giants fans.
These moves make sense with Malik Nabers and Darius Slayton both recovering from surgeries. What stands out is Big Blue bringing back Odell, which excites both fans and a specific player.

When it was announced that OBJ was coming back to the G-Men, the veteran wide receiver quickly took to social media, where he shared a hype video with highlights from his career and his first stint with Big Blue.

Odell’s video immediately had Giants fans excited for his comeback to the Big Apple. The enthusiasm in the comment section included everyone from Jaxson Dart to Victor Cruz and even LeBron James, but one response, in particular, underscored what this signing means for Big Blue.
Who else but former LSU wide receiver Nabers commented, “Surpriseeeee,” suggesting he knew the Giants had been making this move for a while, given his strong relationship with Beckham Jr.?

Both Nabers and Odell are former LSU Tigers and former first-round picks of Big Blue. Nabers even considers OBJ a close mentor, as Beckham Jr. reached out to the 22-year-old when he was first drafted, giving him advice on how to navigate the New York market.
Given this context, the significance of the Giants' signing Odell extends beyond mentorship for Nabers; he’ll also be a weapon for Dart while Leek recovers from a season-ending ACL injury and in case he’s not ready by Week 1.
In addition to Odell and Nabers, the G-Men have wide receiver depth with Slayton, Darnell Mooney, Calvin Austin III, rookie Malachi Fields, Berrios, and Smith-Schuster. Of course, the Giants will have to make cuts by the end of training camp, but holy depth!
Now that both OBJ and Nabers will share a locker room, Big Blue fans get exactly what they have been hoping for and more. If there’s anyone who can handle the bright lights of New York, the media, and, of course, the fans, it’s Odell. Having a veteran like him in your corner should set Nabers up for success when he gets healthy for his third season in the NFL.
So, dig those No. 13 jerseys out from the back of the closet because it’s time to wear them out at MetLife Stadium this year, because OBJ is back!
