Even though the New York Giants entered the 2024 season with low expectations, not many could have predicted just how disastrous the year would unfold. From setting a franchise record with 14 regular-season losses to enduring a franchise-worst 10-game losing streak, all while releasing their supposed franchise quarterback Daniel Jones, Big Blue is now back at square one in several areas of their roster.
If New York wants to return to any sort of competitiveness in a now-loaded NFC East, head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen must nail their offseason moves and absolutely crush the third overall draft pick this spring. And after adding two former Super Bowl champions to their roster, could these moves signal a major culture shift in East Rutherford?
The additions of two former Super Bowl winners may signal a major culture change for the Giants
You may not have noticed, but the Giants have already made two additions to their practice squad. Sports agency JL Sports announced that former Kansas City Chiefs players and Super Bowl champions, cornerback Nic Jones and wide receiver Montrell Washington, are joining Big Blue. These two practice squad signings might not seem like much, but with both players coming from a championship-winning culture, they could bring a much-needed attitude shift to a franchise that has lacked a winning identity for over a decade.
Congratulations to clients @Showout_NJ and @_MWtrelll on signing with the @Giants ‼️‼️

Despite Jones only appearing in 10 games over the last two seasons for the Chiefs and Washington yet to play in an NFL game, their presence should mean something to the current Giants locker room. Sure, neither were major factors in Kansas City’s Super Bowl runs, but they still bring firsthand experience from a championship team—something this Giants roster desperately lacks.
Since winning Super Bowl XLVI against the New England Patriots in 2012, the Giants have made the playoffs just twice, winning only one postseason game in that span. They have endured 10 losing seasons since that magical championship run, with 10-plus losses in nine of them. Meanwhile, the Chiefs have built a dynasty, winning three Super Bowls in the last five years, despite their heartbreaking loss to the Philadelphia Eagles just over a week ago.
Now, with Jones and Washington joining the practice squad, this could be a subtle but meaningful move toward reshaping the culture of a Giants team that has been an afterthought in the NFL for far too long. Read into these signings, Giants fans—a culture change might just be coming in 2025.
