The New York Giants have been at the center of quarterback trade speculation all offseason, nowwith the Matthew Stafford rumors refusing to go away. While the Giants hold the No. 3 overall pick in the draft, recent reports suggest they could look to acquire the Super Bowl-winning quarterback from the Los Angeles Rams at a reasonable price—allowing them to build up the roster rather than gamble everything on a rookie signal-caller.

In this scenario, the Giants land Stafford for a package centered around their third-round pick (No. 65 overall and a conditional 2026 pick), ensuring they keep their first- and second-round selections intact.

With a veteran quarterback now in place, New York shifts its focus to reinforcing the offense to build an unstoppable machine with Stafford in tow. This mock will see the Giants trading back from No. 3 to No. 16 in a hypothetical deal with the Arizona Cardinals, which allows them to recoup additional picks, helping replenish a roster in desperate need of talent. The thought process here is the Cardinals can't pass up an opportunity to add a generational talent and trade up for an opportunity to add either Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter.

This mock shows how the Giants can make the most of their picks, giving Stafford the protection and playmakers he needs to hit the ground running.

The Giants' offensive line has been a disaster for years, and if Stafford is coming to New York, fixing that unit has to be priority number one. Josh Simmons is an elite athlete at tackle with great mobility and the ability to hold his own in pass protection. Pairing him with Andrew Thomas immediately gives the Giants bookends to protect their new quarterback.

Even with Stafford in the building, the Giants need to think about the future at quarterback. Jaxson Dart has the arm strength and athleticism to thrive in Brian Daboll’s system, and sitting behind Stafford for a year or two would allow him to develop properly rather than being thrown into the fire.

The Giants double-dip on the offensive line because, let’s be honest, this line is Swiss cheese. Wyatt Milum is another athletic lineman who could compete for a starting job from Day 1. If he pans out, the Giants will finally solve their long-standing protection issues.

Another wide receiver from LSU? Sign us up. Stafford thrives when he has dynamic playmakers at receiver, and Kyren Lacy is a big-bodied target who can win contested catches. With his blend of size and explosiveness, he could quickly become a WR2 alongside fellow Tiger Malik Nabers.

With Devin Singletary likely on the way out, the Giants add a bruising running back in Ollie Gordon II. At 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, he brings a power element to the backfield that could help take pressure off Stafford and keep defenses honest while working with Tyrone Tracy Jr.

Final Thoughts

This draft is all about building around Stafford while setting up the Giants for sustained success. Fixing the offensive line is the top priority, and this mock accomplishes that with two high-upside studs. Dart provides a long-term plan at quarterback, Lacy gives the offense a much-needed weapon, and Gordon adds a physical presence in the backfield. If Stafford is indeed heading to New York, this is the type of draft that could help the Giants turn things around quickly.
