The vibes are high with the New York Giants right now and for good reason. It was a successful preseason, and the development of Jaxson Dart has the franchise feeling hopeful for the first time in several years. While Dart isn’t expected to open the year as the starter, this season feels different for the Giants.

But how different will the overall outcome be for the Giants this year after going 3-14 last year and earning the No. 3 pick? The roster is more complete than in previous years, but the schedule is unrelenting, and no team has a more difficult opening six games than New York.

Giants expected to improve by four wins in 2025

The Giants aren’t expected to be a playoff contender in 2025, but weirder things have happened in the NFL. However, there is an expectation that the Giants will be better, and frankly, Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen need to be better if they want to keep their jobs. But what is the magic number of wins required for them to feel safe? That is still up in the air.

In a recent article by Sayre Bedinger of Fansided, he predicted every team’s win-loss record for the 2025 season. The Giants' prediction of 7-10 is a big step forward from last season, but it still puts them in last place in the NFC East. Here is a snippet of what Bedinger had to say about the Giants going into a very pivotal season:

"Do the Giants have a legitimate QB controversy on their hands with how well Jaxson Dart played in the preseason? Maybe. The Giants do have someone they can actually turn to if things go poorly with Russell Wilson, and their defensive front is outstanding. That’s going to raise the floor of this team. They could be sneaky dangerous. "

The Giants are hopeful that their defense, specifically their pass rush, can win games singlehandedly until the quarterback position no longer becomes a concern. Whether that is Wilson turning back the clock or Dart stepping in, the Giants believe that their offense will be much improved and that their defense can be among the best in the NFL.

Time will tell if that is ultimately the case for the Giants, and there is a chance they are a significantly improved team this year, but not necessarily reflected in their win-loss record. But if the Giants can improve by four or more wins in 2025, that should signal that they are on the right track moving forward.
