There’s nothing quite like that sweet, sweet taste of revenge. And there’s no one more ready to dig in during Week 3, when the Kansas City Chiefs come to town, than recently activated New York Giants linebacker Swayze Bozeman.
The G-Men signed Bozeman to the practice squad in August. But before coming to East Rutherford, he was originally picked up by the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent after going unselected in the 2024 draft. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound linebacker spent nearly the entire season on Kansas City’s practice squad, but did appear in three games, albeit mostly on special teams.
Well, there’s no better time to get the call than against your former employer. The 26-year-old has been officially activated thanks to the Giants’ mounting injury issues. Micah McFadden’s foot injury landed him on injured reserve after Week 1, and 2025 free-agent signing Chris Board followed him after Week 2’s game against Dallas with a chest injury. That means it’s Bozeman’s turn to step up — and he gets to do it against the team that let him go.
Swayze Bozeman’s revenge game comes at the perfect time for the banged-up Giants
This certainly isn’t the primetime Sunday Night Football matchup the league thought it was getting when it finalized the schedule in May. It’s the 0-2 Giants vs. the 0-2 Chiefs in a battle of the defeated at MetLife Stadium. Even still, a lot is riding on this game.
Brian Daboll's seat is scorching hot. After a franchise-worst 3-14 record last year, starting off just as slowly in 2025 just won't cut it. As for the Chiefs, a 0-3 start for Patrick Mahomes would be truly shocking, and would almost all but guarantee they won't be playing postseason football come January, so playing spoiler Sunday night serves the Giants twofold.
Not only does it keep their own season from slipping into a full-blown, pants-on-fire organizational catastrophe, but it also gives them a shot to hand Mahomes and the Chiefs a knockout punch before October even hits.
Funny enough, KC has never beaten the Giants on the road, so the Football Gods might already be leaning Big Blue’s way... either that or it's a jinx.
It’s easy to overlook, but the call-up comes with a little extra juice. Bozeman is stepping onto the field against the same team that eventually passed on him, in a nationally televised game, with a chance to show he belongs.
Opportunities like that don’t grow on trees. You’ve got to take advantage when they come.
With the Giants’ linebacker depth completely decimated, Bozeman won’t just be along for the ride. He’ll be asked to contribute, even if it’s limited. He’s probably not going to be a headline... unless something nutty happens. But New York is searching for any edge out there in Week 3. Bozeman’s shot to prove something — to the Chiefs, to Big Blue, to himself — might end up mattering more than anyone expects.
