When the New York Giants drafted Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo in the first and fourth rounds, respectively, they knew they'd be getting two football players. What they didn't know is that they also drafted a pair of billy goats. That’s not a typo. The two have grown fond of headbutting one another.
On the latest episode of Up & Adams, Skattebo walked the field with host Kay Adams and peeled back the curtain on his quickly forming bond with Dart. Giants fans have been looking for signs of life this offseason. But this... this is almost too awesome to be true.
The two rookies haven’t seen an NFL snap yet, but they’ve already hit it off in a way that fans are going to love. Headbutts. Laughs. Shared menace energy. These aren’t just rookies — they’re walking, talking chaos agents. And if you believe chemistry matters, especially between a quarterback and his offensive weapon, you can’t help but get excited.
Cam Skattebo confirms he and Jaxson Dart are psychos (in the best way)
Skattebo told Adams their relationship started with some unprompted physicality:
“You know, the first day we met, he asked to headbutt me,” Skattebo said. “He looked at me and said, ‘I want to headbutt you.’”
If you're thinking the headbutting only pertains to on-the-field activities, you'd be wrong. Apparently, any time could be headbutt time... even in the middle of an interview, "We were doing a headbutt yesterday, and he was doing an interview and he's like, 'Skat.' And he just looked at me and we just headbutted each other," Skattebo told Adams.
“He’s almost as crazy as me,” he laughed.
Adams jokingly pleaded with head coach Brian Daboll to put a stop to it, but Skattebo wasn’t so sure he’d want that. According to the rookie running back, Daboll might be the biggest menace of all. “He’s the king of it. Not everyone sees it, but we do.”
If this doesn't get fans ready to run through a wall and instantly make them fan favorites, what will?
What started as a joke between teammates is clearly turning into something deeper. Dart and Skattebo are wired the same way. They’re intense, tough, unbothered by expectations, and more than comfortable making things weird. While most coaches would probably tell their players not to headbutt their new franchise quarterback, this might just be the thing that helps this rookie class lead the next version of the Giants.
The bond’s already there. Dart and Skattebo are feeding off each other and bringing life back into a squad that needs it. It starts with a headbutt in practice and pretty soon it’s the two of them charging into the NFC East like a battering ram. Dart is the engine. Skat is the wrecking ball.
If this is how they’re coming in as rookies, imagine what it’ll look like when they really get rolling. The energy in East Rutherford needed a shift. Who knew it would come at the expense of a few brain cells?
