If the New York Giants are ever going to dig themselves out of this seemingly endless pit of mediocrity, one thing is certain: they need a quarterback. A real one. Not a band-aid, not a stopgap, not a roll of duct tape with a jersey on—a quarterback.
And Isaiah Simmons, one of the few bright spots on this 2-12 squad, thinks he knows exactly who that quarterback should be: potential No. 1 overall 2025 NFL draft pick, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders.
Following the Giants’ 35-14 loss to the Ravens, Simmons made waves with his high praise of the college standout, doubling down on the belief that Sanders has “transformational” talent. If you’ve been watching the Giants this year, you know how badly this team could use a little transforming. Simmons didn’t mince words—he thinks Sanders could be for New York what Jayden Daniels has been for Washington.
It’s an eye-catching comparison, and Simmons didn’t make it lightly. If Jayden Daniels has taught us anything this season, it’s that the right rookie QB can completely flip a franchise’s fortunes. Now Simmons is planting the flag: Shedeur Sanders could do the same for Big Blue.
Isaiah Simmons believes Shedeur Sanders could be the second-coming of Jayden Daniels
Simmons didn’t hesitate to draw the parallel. “I think he’s a guy who can come here and really transform things,” Simmons said after Sunday’s game. “Anywhere he goes, I think he’s going to be a very, very valuable piece. Kind of like a Jayden Daniels effect. You see what Jayden’s done . I could see something like that happening with Shedeur as well—wherever he ends up.”
For context, Daniels walked into a mess of a Washington team and, in just one year, turned them into a playoff contender. The Commanders were 4-13 a season ago. Now, they’ve got 10 wins and a future that suddenly looks dangerously bright. The same kind of turnaround could happen here in New York, and Simmons believes Sanders is the guy to make it happen.
It’s hard to argue with him. Sanders has been electric at Colorado. His stats this season look like something out of a video game—3,926 passing yards, 35 touchdowns, and a nation-leading 74.2% completion rate. Oh, and he did all of that behind an offensive line that had him running for his life most Saturdays. Sound familiar, Giants fans?
The video of Sanders casually tossing passes to Malik Nabers on the streets of NY City, this past weekend, was a nice tease of what the future could look like. Sanders throwing dimes to Nabers feels less like a dream and more like a lifeline.
For too long, the Giants have been stuck at square one: no quarterback, no direction, no answers. But Simmons is right to see something different in Sanders. He’s got the arm, the accuracy, and—most importantly—the poise to walk into New York and handle the chaos. That’s the type of quarterback who can put this franchise back on the map.
If the Giants land the No. 1 pick—and with this season spiraling toward rock bottom, it’s looking likely—they have to get it right. Shedeur is a player who can do what Jayden Daniels, C.J. Stroud, and other rookie standouts have already done: change everything.
And if Simmons believes Sanders is the guy to carry this team to new heights, well, maybe we should listen. After all, it can’t get much worse. So why not aim for transformation?
