The New York Giants are gearing up for an eventful offseason. They plan to bring in their next franchise quarterback with the third overall pick in the NFL Draft and sign a veteran in free agency, but Big Blue has several other areas to address as well.
One position the Giants must focus on improving is wide receiver. Last offseason, their priority was to acquire a WR1, which they did by drafting Malik Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick. Although many believed the G-Men should've targeted a quarterback in last year’s draft, Joe Schoen’s selection of Nabers proved to be the right one.
Nabers finished his rookie campaign with 109 receptions, 1,204 yards, and seven touchdowns, earning his first Pro Bowl honors. The former first-rounder also set the Giants' single-season record for catches by a rookie and exceeded expectations, which has fans excited about the franchise’s future.
While Nabers was a success story in his first season, the Giants still have more work to do this offseason. With the starting quarterback vacancy still open and Darius Slayton likely leaving in free agency, the Giants must complete their QB room and sign a veteran wideout to boost New York’s offense heading into 2025.
With the Giants picking third in this year’s draft, they’ll have several talented quarterback options, such as Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, who has expressed interest in coming to New York. The Giants will also pursue one of the veteran receivers in free agency, like Stefon Diggs. Pairing Sanders and Diggs would significantly improve Brian Daboll’s offense in 2025.
Stefon Diggs will make the next Giants' QB's job a lot easier in 2025
Pro Football Focus recently broke down the offseason dream scenario for all 32 franchises, highlighting one dream draft pick and one free agency signing for each team. The article listed Sanders as the draft pick and Diggs as the signing that makes the most sense for the Giants.
The Giants could go in several directions when drafting a signal-caller. They could target Sanders, prioritize Miami’s Cam Ward in the first round, or wait until the second round to select Ole Miss’s Jaxson Dart or Alabama’s Jalen Milroe. Regardless of who they choose, any quarterback the Giants draft would be an upgrade from last year.
Diggs would complement Nabers and Wan’Dale Robinson well in the Giants’ ascending wide receiver room. Although the veteran suffered a season-ending injury this past season with the Texans, he should be ready to go by the start of next season and would be an exceptional fit in New York. He could also serve as a mentor for the Giants’ young receiving corps.
Diggs is a former All-Pro and a four-time Pro Bowler who has emerged as one of the league’s best receivers throughout his career. The 31-year-old has spent time with the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills, and Houston Texans but will likely be on the move again this offseason. The ball is in Schoen’s hands to make the call and bring Diggs to New York.
