The New York Giants' season has been a disaster. With a 3-13 record and a franchise-record 10-game losing streak before finally winning at home last week for the first time this year, there's no doubt John Mara has seen enough and is ready to move on from this nightmare season.

This year was supposed to be special for the Giants, as it marked the franchise's 100th season. However, the team was plagued by injuries, and several opposing defenses exposed their offensive struggles. The Giants have used four different quarterbacks this season—Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, Tommy DeVito, and Tim Boyle—and fans have had enough.

Attendance at MetLife Stadium has dwindled, and the Big Blue supporters who remain have expressed their frustrations creatively. Planes flying over the stadium with banners reading, "MR. MARA ENOUGH – PLZ FIX THIS DUMPSTER FIRE," highlight the growing disappointment with ownership and management. Many believe Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen could find themselves on the hot seat after this season.

Luckily, the Giants can soon put this tumultuous year behind them, but first, they must face their NFC East rival, the Philadelphia Eagles, in the City of Brotherly Love. The Eagles, already playoff-bound, will rest most of their starters to avoid injuries ahead of the postseason. Notably, Eagles running back Saquon Barkley will sit out on Sunday.

Barkley was on the verge of breaking the single-season rushing record, needing just 100 yards to surpass Eric Dickerson's mark set in 1984. While football fans were excited to see Barkley potentially make history, Giants fans can breathe a small sigh of relief, as they won’t have to watch him achieve the milestone against his former team.

The last time Ron Torbert and his crew officiated a Giants game was on December 25, 2023, when the Eagles defeated Big Blue 33-25 at Lincoln Financial Field. That game featured 12 penalties totaling 78 yards between the two teams.

During that matchup, the Eagles never surrendered their lead. However, the Giants cut the deficit late in the fourth quarter with a 69-yard touchdown reception by Darius Slayton, thrown by Tyrod Taylor. Despite the late effort, the Eagles' offense, led by Jalen Hurts, proved too much for the Giants’ defense, with Hurts throwing for 301 yards and a touchdown while adding 34 rushing yards and a score on the ground.

The Giants' offense struggled mightily, with Daniel Jones and Drew Lock combining for eight sacks. Fortunately for Big Blue, they won’t have to worry about Barkley this time, as the Eagles are resting him for the playoffs.

With last week’s win over the Colts, the Giants no longer have a shot at securing the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. If there’s one thing we’ve learned from that game, it’s that Big Blue hasn’t given up and will be playing for pride on Sunday against their divisional rival, the Philadelphia Eagles.
