Jaxson Dart looked a lot more like himself in the New York Giants' loss to the Washington Commanders in Week 15, but that came with a silver lining. The first-round rookie just returned from concussion protocol in Week 13, but came close to suffering another concussion in the 29-21 loss.
NYDN's Pat Leonard reported that Dart was evaluated for a concussion after being taken to the blue tent early in the fourth quarter, but revealed he was cleared to return. This is the exact problem Giants fans have worried about all season: their franchise quarterback, so this update is incredibly alarming.

That’s his 5th evaluation since he entered the NFL, including preseason. Has one diagnosed concussion as a pro so far that cost him two…
It's worth noting that the 22-year-old exited the game, but Jameis Winston was only in the game for two snaps in his stead. However, Leonard added that the concussion evaluation marked his fifth since being drafted, including the preseason, meaning that Dart's recklessness is only getting worse.

The Ole Miss product completed 20-of-36 pass attempts for 246 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception, while adding 63 yards on the ground. And it was on a rushing attempt where Eddie Goldman leveled him, which was another play where Giants fans held their breath about his health.
In a season where Big Blue is sitting at 2-12, and fans don't have much to be excited about, Dart has been a bright spot. He's injected life into the offense despite missing several key weapons, but the lone blemish on an Offensive Rookie of the Year-caliber rookie season has been health concerns.
In the Week 13 loss against the Patriots, Dart was leveled by Christian Elliss and somehow escaped suffering another concussion, which occurred once again. The No. 25 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft is known for his affinity for taking contact, and he made his return after missing two games before the Giants' bye week.
The one thing he absolutely has to learn if he wants to survive in this league is when to slide or step out of bounds, which has yet to come to fruition. His willingness to fight for every extra yard is admirable, but he's not in college anymore, where he was far more athletic than many SEC defenders.
NFL defenders aren't scared to dish out contact to signal-callers, and that's been what's holding him back this season. All the G-Men need to do this season is to keep Dart healthy, which is proving easier said than done after Leonard brought another concussion evaluation to light.
