In 2024, Malik Nabers was a Ferrari parked outside of a house that was falling apart. Despite being a rookie, the wide receiver quickly established himself as the go-to weapon for the New York Giants offense, and was one of the few consistent players on a 3-14 team. Now, entering 2025, Nabers is still the top guy, but the Giants have tried to surround him with more talent.
New York added a trio of quarterbacks to the roster, who should be big for Nabers, and the Giants also added some talented players to the defense. The franchise even added a fun running back to pair with Tyrone Tracy Jr. However, the Giants didn’t add any receivers to help Nabers carry the passing game.
That was evident in a recent PFF ranking of all 32 receiver corps in the NFL. PFF’s Trevor Sikkema ranked New York’s group of wideouts at No. 24. The analyst argued that Nabers isn’t the entire passing attack, but that he does carry a significant amount of it.
"The Giants’ passing attack isn’t just Malik Nabers, but he represents the biggest piece of the pie. Nabers earned an 87.1 PFF receiving grade as a rookie despite a terrible quarterback situation. He was the only Giants receiver to earn a single-season receiving grade higher than 65.0 in 2024.Trevor Sikkema (PFF)
Tyrone Tracy Jr., Theo Johnson, Wan'Dale Robinson, Darius Slayton and Jalin Hyatt make up the same group from 2024, which posted a 29th-ranked 67.1 PFF receiving grade."
Giants receiving room ranked No. 24 in the NFL
Sikkema was actually pretty kind to the other receivers, not criticizing them. However, Giants fans are ready for the non-Nabers wideouts to step up this season. After Nabers’ team-leading 1,204 receiving yards last season, Wan’Dale Robinson was the second-leading receiver with just 699 yards, and Darius Slayton was third with 573 yards.
In a league where a lot of teams have multiple 1000-yard receivers, someone in New York needs to step up so that Nabers isn’t the only receiver defenses are concerned about. Quarterback play has been a valid excuse in past years, but the wideouts will need to make things work with Russell Wilson in 2025.
