The New York Giants' cornerback room is apparently such a mess in terms of both star power and overall depth that they have resorted to the embarrassing low of bringing in former Detroit Lions first-round pick Terrion Arnold for a workout. Surely, there must be a reason why they got rid of him so quickly, no?
Arnold, who was cut after two seasons with the Lions after being charged with multiple felonies that could lead to a maximum of life in prison if found guilty of the most serious aggravating offenses, is scheduled to work out with the Giants on Wednesday.
Arnold is getting some legitimate NFL interest, as he has worked out with the Texans, Jets, and Seahawks before this latest scheduled stint with John Harbaugh's crew. To say the juice is not worth the squeeze when bringing in someone like Arnold is the understatement of the decade.

It almost seems reductive and unnecessary to discuss Arnold as a football player amid all of these allegations, but it warrants discussion if the Giants are serious about looking at him. Arnold has been up-and-down throughout two past seasons with the Lions, and his PFF grade of 52.6 (97th out of 114) tells the story of someone who has all the physical tools, but has been incapable of putting it all together against NFL athletes.
If the Giants were to sign Arnold, a cornerback room led by names like Paulson Adebo and Greg Newsome II could see their snaps cut down by someone who was a clear first-round talent just two years ago. Of course, if his legal issues come home to roost, Arnold is not going to make any sort of positive impact with Big Blue in 2026 or beyond.
The Giants have had a fairly noisy offseason for a team that hired Harbaugh to get back to their consistent winning stability of yesteryear, and all that Arnold will do is throw even more gasoline on the fire. Even if this is just a due diligence workout, the timing of this makes it an unnecessary distraction that is only serving to make people question what Harbaugh is doing.
