The New York Giants are on the road this Sunday afternoon to visit the New Orleans Saints, in a showdown of the NFC basement dwellers. Big Blue is coming off its first win of the season, with an impressive 21-18 victory over the previously undefeated Los Angeles Chargers. Things haven’t been going as well in NOLA.

The black and gold enter the contest searching for their first win of the season at Caesars Superdome. Reinforcements are coming back to help them out — gadget man Taysom Hill is back, and so is tight end Foster Moreau. For a struggling Saints team, any addition is gladly welcomed. Anything to help out second-year quarterback Spencer Rattler.

Speaking of the 25-year-old, the Giants have the opportunity to etch his name in the annals of infamous history with a win on Sunday. According to Pro Football Talk, if the G-Men can hand Rattler a Week 5 loss, he’d become the fifth signal-caller since 1950 to start his career with 11 straight losses, which… isn’t great, but a wonderful opportunity for the G-Men to get right.

Giants have perfect chance to push Spencer Rattler toward NFL infamy

Recently, it’s been the Giants on the wrong side of history. Just last year, they set the franchise record for most losses in a season with 14. So, if any team understands, it’s Big Blue. However, things are finally looking up for the once-proud franchise after rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart’s first start.

His stats weren’t amazing, but a controlled Week 4, gutsy win over the Justin Herbert-led Bolts did most of the talking. There’s a real belief that New York has finally found its next franchise quarterback, which cannot be said of the Saints.

New Orleans selected Rattler in the fifth round of the 2024 Draft. The former Oklahoma-turned-South Carolina star was considered to be relatively inconsistent as a prospect, leading to his draft slide. And 10 games into his NFL career, it looks like he’s just as inconsistent as ever.

He’s accrued 2,082 passing yards on 61% completion, with nine touchdowns, six interceptions, and a 77.4 quarterback rating. Those stats — and a 10-game losing streak to start out his career — point to him just needing to be better if he wants to stick.

DeShone Kizer holds the individual record for most consecutive losses as a starter, going 0-15 for the Cleveland Browns... a record Rattler would probably like to avoid like the plague. But the Giants would love nothing more than to get him one game closer.

Defensive coordinator Shane Bowen’s group is finally starting to come alive. Rattler’s job could get infinitely more difficult if the pass rush can stay hot. Gas it up.
