In order for the NY Giants offense to take the next step, plenty of things need to go right for Daniel Jones and Co. Obviously, the play of the offensive line must be the total opposite from what we saw last fall and winter.

If that ends up happening, then maybe, just maybe, Danny Dimes will be able to turn some heads in '24. Let's go ahead and assume the line holds up to its end of the bargain. Should that happen, then the biggest change we'll need to see for the offense from '23 will be for Jones to take more downfield shots. It sounds easy, right? It hasn't been the case and Jones has gotten too comfortable in just going with his checkdowns. That can't be the case in the coming months.

Daniel Jones needs to take more downfield shots in 2024 for the NY Giants

In addition to the improved offensive line, taking Malik Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick is going to completely open up the field for Jones. Nabers' wheels are electric and his hands are downright sensational. We all got an early glimpse of what he'll be able to get done thanks to his strong play at minicamp.

Yes, there's a difference between minicamp and putting the pads on during the regular season, but Nabers' potential can't be measured. There are going to be times where Jones will have time, let the ball rip and wait for Nabers to come down with the pigskin. These two will need to build chemistry at training camp, but goodness, they could end up working wonders together.

The Giants WRs as a whole are looking strong in 2024

While Nabers is going to be the one to get most of the attention for the group, don't forget that Jaylin Hyatt, Wan'Dale Robinson, Darius Slayton and others are still around. Robinson has breakout season written all over him, Slayton has led this team in receiving yards in four of the past five campaigns and Hyatt is hoping for a strong Year 2.

Jones is going to look to spread the ball around and with so much speed to work with, we have a feeling he indeed will take more chances downfield. We need to see this out of Jones in '24. He can't be conservative. There will be times where he'll have to take some shots and we're ready to see good things come from it.
