And for the same folks who don't want to see Jones take the field vs. Minnesota, are you really going to be comfortable if Drew Lock is the one to get the start? For a little while now, there has been growing speculation that Lock could push Jones for the QB1 job and potentially send him to the bench.
If that ends up happening, Lock is going to have to step up his game. According to reports out of OTAs recently, Lock has struggled throwing the ball and consistency has been a bit of an issue for him. That's not what you want to be hearing about the guy who plenty of Giants fans have claimed is far and away a better option than Jones.
Lock was signed to a one-year, $5 million deal. Even if he loses out on the job to Jones, plenty of eyes are still going to be on Lock throughout the season. Jones has dealt with way too many injury issues over his career, with 2022 being the only year he's been able to play a full season. Lock could end up hearing his number called in '24 if Jones goes down again. If that happens, inconsistent play won't be tolerated.
