The preseason may not mean a lot to plenty of people, but don't tell that to the NY Giants and head man Brian Daboll. In the opener against the Lions, the G-Men were able to post a 14-3 victory, with some positives being showcased on both sides of the ball.

It wasn't pretty, but hey, a win is a win. An early injury scare to Drew Lock had people concerned, but luckily, it's nothing serious. In this piece, we're taking a look at three winners from the action, while unfortunately also bringing up a pair of players who had a night to forget.

Winner: running back Eric Gray

The clear winner from this one was second-year running back Eric Gray. Entering this one, he had been pretty dang quiet throughout camp. However, that changed in a big way vs. the Lions. In the win, Gray posted 52 yards and two touchdowns, adding 46 more yards through the air. On his 48-yard score, Gray juked Morice Norris out of his socks, which was awesome to see.

Loser: quarterback Drew Lock

The good news for Lock is that his hip injury was only a minor one and general manager Joe Schoen said he could have gone back in the game if needed. The bad news is that no one wanted to see him in action anymore. Lock struggled tremendously, going 4-of-10 for 17 yards and an interception. His INT was brutal, which led to plenty of Giants fans calling him out on social media for it. It was a Big Blue debut to forget for him.

Winner: special teams speedster Miles Boykin

It's not every single day that we're going to highlight a gunner on special teams, but Miles Boykin showcased to Daboll why he needs to be on the Week 1 roster. In the first half alone, Boykin had two incredible plays on punts, flying down the field to put pressure on a returner. On one of them, he almost forced a fumble that was recovered by Dyontae Johnson, but the return man was ruled down. Boykin isn't going to make noise for this team at receiver, but he sure will on special teams.

Loser: left tackle Joshua Ezeudu

When the Giants originally drafted Joshua Ezeudu, it was to be a guard. Due to injuries and lack of depth over the past two seasons, he has played tackle. He has no business playing left tackle for this team again. He looked rough in protection, which led to Lock taking some big-time shots. The tackle experiment for the youngster needs to come to an end. Get him back to guard and don't even think about a move to the outside again in '24.

Winner: linebacker Dyontae Johnson

This guy is so easy to root for. Dyontae Johnson once went undrafted, but the Giants gave him a shot. Now, he's pushing for significant playing time in 2024 and he could even give Micah McFadden a run for his money at LB2. In the win over Detroit, Johnson was the defensive player of the game, posting a sack and two tackles for loss. The summer keeps on getting better for the LB.
