4 biggest New York Giants overreactions from the win over Detroit
2. Lack of targets for Malik Nabers in preseason debut
The Giants did not expect No. 6 overall draft selection Malik Nabers to suit up vs. Detroit, but he did and it sure was exciting to see him wear that NY jersey. However, Nabers was not a factor at all in the 12 offensive snaps that he was a part of. Even though it was disappointing to not see him show off his skills like he did at LSU, it should not be a cause for concern.
The rainy conditions definitely played a factor in the Giants offensive game plan and Lock just wasn't sharp in this one. Lock had just four completions on the night for just 17 yards and also threw an ugly interception. He averaged less than two yards a throw, as he could not get the ball deep downfield.
The Daniel Jones-Nabers connection that we've seen at training camp so far is something that we should expect once Week 1 arrives against the Minnesota Vikings. Nabers is still a dynamic playmaker and has had a great training camp so far. Nabers is a young and rising star in the NFL. A poor preseason debut isn't going to change that.
