1. Allowing Tyrod Taylor to sign with the New York Jets

When Brian Daboll accepted the Giants head coaching role, he decided to bring Tyrod Taylor with him as the team’s backup quarterback, to help instill his offense. While 2022 was a quiet season for Taylor, he played well in extended action for the Giants in 2023, until Tommy DeVito took over for a spell while he was injured, and the team wanted to see what they had in the former Syracuse and Illinois quarterback.

Well, Taylor didn’t take too kindly to being benched last season, and it might’ve led to some hard feelings for the backup quarterback. Instead of returning to the Giants in 2024, he opted to go across town to the New York Jets, where he’s slated to be the primary backup to Aaron Rodgers, a coveted role, all things considered, after last season.

While Taylor wasn’t perfect for the Giants last season, he showcased some impressive ability, including an awesome deep-ball, the likes of which we haven’t seen Jones throw since his rookie campaign. If he takes over for Rodgers at some point and steadies the ship for the Jets, while the Giants continue to deal with question mark after question mark at quarterback, the Giants will be left wondering why they didn’t just decide to bring Taylor back for a third season in 2024.
