2. S Justin Simmons
The Giants found their replacement for Xavier McKinney in the NFL Draft with Minnesota safety Tyler Nubin, who was selected by the team at pick No. 47. The Giants have also seen progression with fourth-year safety Jason Pinnock, who is expected to start this season, but it may not be too late to add even more help at the position.
Former Denver Broncos starting safety Justin Simmons is still a free agent after the team waived him at the start of free agency after eight seasons to save $14.5 million. The four-time All-Pro and two-time Pro Bowler has been unsigned since March, which may surprise many - he is one of the best players still available ahead of training camp.
Last year with the Broncos, Simmons had 53 solo tackles, two forced fumbles, three interceptions, and eight passes defended in 15 games. The 30-year-old safety was the NFL's interceptions co-leader in 2022 and has been a reliable player for the Broncos since he was drafted in 2016. While it's unclear who will sign the DB this season, whichever locker room he joins, Simmons will bring valuable experience and leadership in 2024. Hopefully, Schoen and Daboll can make it happen for the Giants.
