4 free agents on offense the NY Giants can still target this offseason

1. RB Cam Akers

The running back position is not settled entering the new campaign. In fact, it’s likely far from that. Devin Singletary will be the featured back, and fifth-round pick Tyrone Tracy Jr. will get some burn, but there’s a litany of interesting free agents who could make a difference in New York. One of those is former Florida State star Cam Akers.

He’s suffered some major injuries, but Akers is still only 24 years old. It wasn’t a great campaign for Akers in 2023, who spent time with the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings, but it’s rather surprising no team has taken a flier on his services yet in free agency.

Even if they just give Akers a look in training camp and during the preseason, the Giants could potentially find a diamond in the rough. Akers is only one season removed from his career-high in rushing with 786 yards and nine touchdowns. We’re willing to bet that type of play is in there somewhere for Akers.
