The preseason finale has snuck up on us and NY Giants head coach Brian Daboll only has a little more time until he has to trim his roster down to 53. With the Aug. 27 deadline quickly approaching, plenty of players currently in East Rutherford are going to have to pack up soon and start to look for new homes.

It's a tough part of the job, but this is why Daboll is in the big-boy chair. With that said, some former NFL Draft picks didn't work out for the G-Men and they'll surely be among the guys who will be informed by Daboll and Co. that they won't be around for Week 1. In this piece, we take a look at four former draft picks in particular who are likely gone following the meeting with the Jets:

NY Giants draft picks who likely won't be around for Week 1

CB Darnay Holmes

The Giants brought back Darnay Holmes on a one-year deal this offseason after he spent four campaigns in East Rutherford. The veteran cornerback was a fourth-round pick in 2020. While there were times where he played strong, he also had some nightmare showings too. We expect Daboll to keep 5-6 cornerbacks for his 53-man roster, but Holmes won't be one of them. The third-round selection of Dru Phillips this past April opened the door for the team to move on, as Phillips is expected to win the starting slot corner job. Keeping Holmes around would have been nice for depth, but we don't see it happening.

LB Darrian Beavers

Darrian Beavers was a sixth-round pick in 2022 and the early signs were that the Giants landed a diamond in the rough. Beavers looked outstanding in camp, but he tore his ACL in the preseason. Just like that, his rookie season was over. He appeared in two games last year, but he has been quite underwhelming this summer. He was rough to watch in the loss to the Texans at NRG Stadium, posting the worst PFF grade on defense. He won't be making the roster.

DT D.J. Davidson

Another 2022 draft pick likely on his way out is defensive tackle D.J. Davidson, who was taken in the fifth round that spring. Davidson entered camp hoping to push for a depth spot, but the emergence of Elijah Chatman has essentially closed the door for him. Dexter Lawrence is of course the leader of the unit, while Chatman's play has been unreal. Jordon Riley will stick around, while Rakeem Nunes-Roches isn't going anywhere either. Ryder Anderson was just cut due to injury, which was a bummer. Davidson simply hasn't done enough at camp or the preseason to warrant a spot for Week 1.

OL Marcus McKethan

To close out our list, 2022 fifth-rounder Marcus McKethan doesn't have a future in East Rutherford. McKethan appeared in 16 games last season, posting five starts due to various injuries across the line. However, when his number was called for extensive action, he struggled mightily. The Giants invested in completely changing up the offensive line as a whole - several new faces have arrived. McKethan has no business making the 53-man roster and he'll look to latch on elsewhere.
