2. Strong safety

The G-Men have had a complete makeover at safety with the departure of Xavier McKinney, who joined the Green Bay Packers in free agency this offseason. Luckily for New York, they drafted Tyler Nubin, a highly touted prospect from the University of Minnesota, who many believe could have been the best safety in this past draft class.

After setting a school-record 13 interceptions at Minnesota and for his impressive play throughout training camp, Nubin has the ability to earn a starting role and play a significant role with the Giants as long as he stays healthy. Nubin did not play against the Lions due to a minor injury, but he's slowly getting back into the mix of things this summer.

We know that Jason Pinnock will likely be the team's starting free safety, leaving strong safety open and available to compete over the next few weeks. Nubin may be considered a favorite by many, but unsurprisingly, the Giants value Dane Belton a lot, and he could be a player to watch out for, especially against the Texans.

Belton, a 2022 fourth-round pick, is an experienced veteran who has worked very hard and isn't about to let a rookie steal the job from him. While Nubin may have more potential, Belton is experienced, and the Giants may want to develop the 2024 second-rounder more and not take chances on further setting him back. We'll see what defensive backs coach Jerome Henderson decides, but expect to see more of Belton before the Giants throw Nubin into the fire.
