3. QB Daniel Jones
When it boils down to it, the easiest Giants player to point to and wonder if they’ll be with the franchise beyond 2024 also plays the most important position in all of sports, and that’s the team’s quarterback in Daniel Jones. It seems as if Jones has been fighting an uphill battle ever since he arrived in New York.
Of course, he was drafted No. 6 overall, so the weight of great expectations were already placed on him, but whether it was Dave Gettleman’s roster construction, Joe Judge’s coaching or a shoddy offensive line, one thing or another has derailed his time in East Rutherford.
While 2022 under Daboll was incredible for Jones, last season’s performance ruined all of the goodwill he built with fans and media members alike. Now, returning from a litany of injuries, the odds may be stacked against him, but it’s nothing Jones hasn’t already dealt with throughout his time in the NFL.
The Giants have an out in his contract after this season, and there’s a likelihood that they’ll use it if Jones plays like he did last fall. Everything is on the line for the quarterback in 2024, and even if he returns to form, there’s no guarantee he’ll be returning to New York in 2025.
