1. CB Tre Herndon

Tre Herndon looked like a serious candidate to be the Giants CB2 in 2024, but that all came to a close when he was released. While the position group remains one of the thinner ones on the roster, Herndon won’t be part of New York’s journey, as his time with the Giants is officially over.

The veteran defensive back looked like he would’ve slotted in nicely next to Deonte Banks, as there hasn’t been any defensive back to separate themselves after the former first-rounder. Herndon’s numbers in 2023, 46 total tackles, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, one recovery and nine pass deflections, made it seem like he would be an easy choice for the role.

Evidently, the Giants are going with their younger players on their roster for the position, and that’s all well and good, but cornerbacks will be paramount to the team’s success in 2024. Will they likely miss Herndon’s abilities at times this season? It’s hard to say right now, but it’s easy to lean towards yes when looking at the bigger picture. Herndon struggled this summer, but something tells us his experience will be missed.
