3. Matt Breida

Matt Breida is a 29-year-old free agent running back who was a very serviceable backup to Saquon Barkley during his time with the Giants. He racked up close to 400 yards rushing in his two seasons combined, over 200 yards receiving, and had three touchdowns with one being in the playoffs. He showed toughness on the ground running between the tackles, the ability to catch the ball out the backfield, he never put the ball on the ground, and he showed great durability never missing a game. He in fact, played in 34 straight games and even started four of them while Barkley was out with injuries.

Breida has obvious connections to the Giants with the past two seasons in New York and also back to his time in Buffalo. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like Breida will be back with the Giants this season. The Giants already have a logjam at running back. Adding Breida back into the mix would only cause further chaos - added on is the fact that they have gotten younger at the position, so there doesn't look to be room for him.

This offseason the Giants added 26-year-old running back Devin Singletary to be the lead back. They still have Eric Gray, and they drafted Tyrone Tracy Jr. and signed Dante Miller to the running backs room as well. Singletary is the oldest in the room at 26. The Giants feel their new running backs room is younger and more versatile than it has ever been.
