5 biggest questions the NY Giants continue to face this offseason
3. Will Darren Waller play in 2024 or not?
After trading for tight end Darren Waller from the Las Vegas Raiders last offseason, he was a disappointment, to say the least, as he was held to just 52 receptions for 552 yards and one touchdown. He also missed extensive time with a hamstring injury. Now, his future with the Giants after just one season is in doubt.
Rumors have been swirling that Waller could be retiring, as the 31-year-old TE has made no contact with the Giants this offseason. Schoen has reportedly been trying to connect with him, but no luck. The Giants also used a fourth-round pick on Theo Johnson, who was a special player for Penn State at the college level.
At this point, all signs are pointing to Waller hanging up his cleats and not suiting up this fall. However, we won't know for sure until an announcement is made. Waller could end up surprising us all and playing in '24, but it feels like it'd be a shock if that proves to be the case.
