With the only roster moves left seemingly being the training camp cuts, it's now time to think about how the season is going to play out for our beloved New York Giants. It's no secret that 2023 was a disaster. The Daniel Jones contract, the Saquon Barkley drama and even drama within the coaching staff all seemed to play a part in killing the momentum the 2022 season brought.
However, it's 2024, and with major overhauls in all aspects of the organization, the Giants are looking to get back to where they left off two years ago. We, as fans, can only hope they live up to that. With that said, here are some dream scenarios for this campaign:
5. Daniel Jones doesn't give the front office any reason to stay
From the moment Daniel Jones inked his name on a deal that would pay him 40 million dollars a year, all of Giants nation had its doubts. Had the Giants not beat the Vikings in the playoffs in 2022, Jones may not even have been signed long term. We saw in 2023 a regression back to what we all thought Jones was, injuries aside. He is a back up QB in this league at best, and one good year made him one of the highest paid players in the league.
Luckily, Joe Schoen and Co. were able to put a team option in the contract for after the 2024 season. Although it's more than expected for this to be Jones' last season in the Meadowlands, it's been proven he can show up in a contract year. If Jones gives the front office any reason to pick up that team option, the Giants could screw themselves for the foreseeable future. Jones can be a good guy to have in the QB room, but he can't be THE guy. Hopefully, the Giants defense is able to carry them to a respectable year, maybe even the playoffs. If the 2006 Bears can do it with Rex Grossman, maybe the 2024 Giants can do it with Jones.
