5 NY Giants who have hurt their stock at training camp
3. OL Evan Neal
Neal has been given every opportunity to grow into the player he was drafted to be for the Giants. Some blamed the coaching, but the Giants made a major move in firing Bobby Johnson over the offseason, and the hope was a new voice could unlock the potential Neal flashed at Alabama.
Well, it’s impossible to improve your play if you can’t get on the field, and that’s been the reality for Neal. He’s still nursing an ankle injury, and he hasn’t been able to gel with his new teammates along the line. Now, he’s seemingly lost his spot at right tackle to Jermaine Eluemunor, and he’s going to be hard pressed to get it back from the sidelines.
Perhaps Neal’s future with the Giants is as a swing tackle. Additionally, it’s always nice to have depth along the offensive line. Still, that’s not what the Giants expected when they drafted Neal, and it’s far from the quality of player the former Alabama tackle wants to be moving forward. He's unfortunately becoming a first-round bust already.
