2. DB David Long Jr./Elijah Riley
When the Giants decided to let Adoree’Jackson walk as a free agent to start the offseason, replacing him looked like a need. The Giants looked at several veterans on the market, but the Giants got priced out when Darious Williams and Tre’Davious White ended up signing elsewhere.
Since then, the Giants did bring in a few veterans to add to the cornerbacks room in David Long Jr. and just most recently, Elijah Riley. So, we think that Cor’Dale Flott might have a leg up in the early competition for the second cornerback spot alongside Deonte Banks. Others thought Nick McCloud could be one too, but Flott might be an early favorite.
Tre Hawkins is going to be battling third-round pick Andru Phillips for playing time and Darnay Holmes seems to have found his niche as a special teams player. Riley, who was recently added to the roster, also has a lot of experience as a special teams player during his last two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, so that might give him a potential leg up over Long.
