5 NY Giants whose stock plummeted leading up to Week 1

NY Giants CBs Cor’Dale Flott and Nick McCloud
From the time training camp began all the way through until the end of it and heading into the regular season, one of the most asked questions for the Giants was who would be the second cornerback on the team after Deonte Banks.
The Giants added several cornerbacks, although they were on the cheap side. Along with Nick McCloud coming back on a one-year deal that wasn’t even fully guaranteed, the Giants brought in Tre Herndon, Mario Goodrich and Christian Holmes. Those three didn’t make the team, and even Darnay Holmes didn’t even make the final Giants roster.
So it was McCloud and Cor’Dale Flott who seemed to be the main two that were bidding for the second cornerback job. But even after a summer long competition to try and secure it, it didn’t seem like it was enough. Why?
Even after bidding farewell to him after three seasons, the Giants ended up bringing back veteran cornerback Adoree’ Jackson for a fourth season and signing him to a one-year deal. With Jackson now in the fold, he will likely take the second cornerback job and potentially playing time away from McCloud and Flott, especially since rookie Andru Phillips will be the primary slot corner.
It doesn’t speak well for either of McCloud or Flott that they didn't make the Giants feel secure enough in either of their services to where they had to reach back out and get Jackson back in the fold for the 2024 season.
