5 NY Giants whose stock plummeted leading up to Week 1
By Doug Rush
NY Giants OT Evan Neal
Heading into the preseason, Evan Neal’s stock with the team wasn’t all that high to begin with. Neal was coming back from an ankle injury that took him out for the second half of the 2023 season. Before that, though, Neal barely looked the part of being a starting right tackle in the NFL.
After starting out the summer on the PUP List, Neal got activated and had his opportunities to play against live competition that wasn’t dressed in Giants blue. Neal started out okay and was solid in run blocking situations. However, as far as pass blocking goes, Neal allowed a sack of Tommy DeVito and looked like the same player we all saw struggle in 2023.
Neal has gone from being the Giants starting right tackle to being relegated to a backup that the Giants don’t even want to try out as a guard. Jermaine Eluemunor is the Giants right tackle of the present and future. Can Neal work his way back into the good graces of the Giants coaching staff and maybe get his job back in the future? Possibly.
But, not too many fans currently believe in Neal and think he’s anywhere near the look of an NFL playing offensive lineman. There are even less who still believe in him and think he’ll regain his right tackle job again.
