1. Baker Mayfield
Baker Mayfield’s offseason after 2023 could go one of two ways. He’s had some success as the starter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and could warrant a possible long-term deal, especially from the Buccaneers themselves if they like Mayfield enough to keep him around past the one-year deal they gave him.
Or, if the Buccaneers decide to draft a quarterback and move on from Mayfield, the veteran and former No. 1 overall pick could be looking for another one-year deal from another team in need of a quarterback to start for the season.
Again, with the ACL injury to Jones and if he can’t get ready for Week 1 and beyond, insert Mayfield, who has shown he’s capable of starting in the NFL and could be a viable option to start for the Giants if needed.
It also depends on how the Buccaneers season finishes, because there’s a decent chance that they could be playing for a possible playoff spot and even a chance at the NFC South division title. A scenario like that could increase Mayfield’s value as a free agent and he may look for a long-term deal if he does accomplish that.
