4. Texas DL Byron Murphy
Sticking with the theme of Longhorns, we have interior defensive lineman Byron Murphy, an absolute monster in the trenches who could fit perfectly next to Dexter Lawrence. Aside from Lawrence and the edge-rushers, the defensive line is looking to be a weakness for the Giants defense, so adding a guy like Murphy could make sense for New York.
While Murphy may be slightly undersized, we've seen how little that can matter for talented defensive tackles. His speed, strength and technique make him a devastating threat both as a pass-rusher and run-stopper. Murphy racked up 22 tackles, 45 pressures, and six sacks through 14 games last season, earning a PFF pass-rushing grade of 91.5. Lining up between the A and B gap, Murphy could work very well alongside Lawrence if drafted by New York.
The Giants are clearly hoping to prioritize the defensive front this offseason and they've done so by trading for Carolina's Brian Burns. Burns is a monster in the trenches. Adding a player of Murphy's Caliber would only make the defense that much better for Brian Daboll and Shane Bowen.
