5 players the NY Giants can't reach for in Round 1 of the NFL Draft
By George Baker
1. QB Bo Nix
With the four-headed quarterback snake seemingly carrying all of the headlines and news heading into the draft, Bo Nix is the strong 2024 quarterback class sleeper. Still projected as a late-first or early-second-round pick, Nix is a viable prospect whom the Giants can target via trading back or staying patient and snagging him in Round 2.
For the G-Men, the worst-case scenario would be getting tunnel vision on drafting a quarterback and reaching for Nix just because we "need" a quarterback. Ultimately, the NFL Draft is all about extracting value, and it would be unwise to take Nix just for the sake of grabbing a quarterback.
Nix is already 24 years old and doesn't have the same upside as many other prospects. While he projects to be effective at the next level, it takes a dominant signal-caller to win games in the NFL, and Nix doesn't have the next-level ceiling that fans love their quarterback to have.
Heading into the draft, let's hope that Schoen stays patient and lets the draft come to him. With the world's weight on his shoulders, Schoen must come out of the draft with a great rookie class ready to contribute come Week 1 of the 2024 season.
