Anonymous NFL coach calls out Daniel Jones for crumbling under pressure

Danny Dimes needs to prove this coach wrong in 2024.

The bulletin board material keeps on coming in for NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. No one outside of New York and New Jersey thinks the veteran quarterback has what it takes to put on a show this campaign. Several QB rankings have him at the bottom, with some even having backups over him.

In a new piece from The Athletic, starting signal-callers were ranked by tiers. Danny Dimes was in Tier 4, checking in as QB23. However, The Athletic's Mike Sando spoke with multiple sources about Jones, including an anonymous defensive coach. Straight up, when things start to break down, said coach doesn't think Jones has the mental fortitude to deliver for his team. Ouch:

Daniel Jones' list of haters is growing by the day

"You go to the gun range, you shoot a gun, you feel real comfortable hitting the target. But when people are shooting back, he is not as accurate. When the (expletive) gets moving and it's live football, I think that is what gets him - missing throws, making more mistakes."

That's surely not what you want to see said about your starting signal-caller with the season-opener around the corner. The fact of the matter here is that Jones has done little to silence his haters. When the going got tough for him last campaign, Big Blue went south quickly - he ended the 2023 season with two touchdowns and six interceptions before tearing his ACL.

The offensive line has done Jones ZERO favors throughout his career, but some terrible decisions continue to haunt him. Do we need to bring up the pick-six to Jalen Pitre again? This was a textbook example of Jones losing his mind when things break down. He simply has to make better decisions with the football in his hands.

With no more guaranteed money on the books for Jones following this season, the Giants will have the chance to move on from him next offseason if they decide it's time to focus on the future with a different quarterback running the offense. Will Jones regain his 2022 form and make the call much more difficult for Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll?

That's what a lot of people want to see happen, but if Jones falls flat on his face once again, then he'll be gone by the time the 2025 campaign arrives. He's become a bit of a punching bag in terms of people going after him and you can now add this unknown coach to the list. Does he have a point? Maybe, but again, it's on Jones to prove him and everyone else wrong.
