4 best moments of Sterling Shepard's NY Giants career
Last Sunday, the NY Giants and MetLife Stadium officially said goodbye to veteran wide receiver Sterling Shepard. After arriving to the team in 2016, Shepard gave his all while wearing a Big Blue jersey and fans appreciated what he did during his time in East Rutherford.
Shepard finished things off with a win over the Eagles, which was awesome to see. He truly embodied Giants pride. Shepard was with the team for some tough seasons, but also for a couple of playoff teams. With all of that said, here, in no order, are his best moments with the organization over the years:
4. Sterling Shepard passes Jeremy Shockey on Giants all-time receptions list
In the 27-10 win over the Eagles in Week 18, late in the action, the Giants were quite clearly trying to get the ball in Shep's hands. Entering the game, he was within striking distance of passing former NY tight end Jeremy Shockey for No. 5 on the all-time receptions list.
Shepard had just three catches for 18 yards in the game, but that was enough to make history. Shepard cemented himself at No. 5 on the all-time Giants receiving list - he finished his Giants career with 372 catches, 23 touchdowns and 4,095 yards.
The last three seasons for Shepard with the Giants didn't go as planned, but come on, it was so great that he was able to reach this milestone. Shepard was all smiles after he was able to pass Shockey. It's a moment he and his family will surely cherish for a long time. He got quite the ovation from the crowd at MetLife too.
