Countless times, NY Giants running back Saquon Barkley has proven just how much he means to this team on and off the field. When healthy, no one can argue that Barkley is one of the best running backs in the game. However, his future with Big Blue is totally up in the air.

The Giants and Barkley were unable to come to terms on an extension last year, forcing general manager Joe Schoen to place the non-exclusive franchise tag on the Pro Bowler. After this campaign, Barkley could sign with a new team (if the G-Men don't tag him again). In a new Bleacher Report piece, they have Saquon leaving East Rutherford to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Could Saquon Barkley sign with the Buccaneers next offseason?

"Barkley is still averaging a respectable 4.2 yards per carry and has notched five touchdowns in nine games, but he's missed time with injury and hasn't been able to spark many victories for the 4-8 G-Men. He's remained a dynamic talent when healthy and can clearly contribute in all facets of the offense, but he'll be better utilized on a squad that has more capable receivers who can help take the defensive pressure off."

There's going to be a lot of pressure on Schoen to make sure Barkley doesn't go anywhere for the 2024 campaign. There's still some hope that the two sides will be able to get a long-term deal done. How would Big Blue supporters feel about a three-year contract worth $34 million?

The guaranteed money would play a big role in whether or not Barkley decides to put the pen to paper, but a lot of people want to see the star RB back in the mix with this young team moving forward. Schoen could also bring in a new quarterback via the NFL Draft next spring.

Who better to help bring him along and learn the ropes of the New York market than Saquon? From our chair, we think Barkley deserves a payday from Schoen and Co. He's the face of the franchise and he keeps getting the job done when his number is called. Figure it out, Mr. Schoen.
