With NFL teams looking to trim their rosters down to 53 soon, some major, tough decisions are coming for general managers across the league. This includes Joe Schoen, who has had a brilliant offseason for the NY Giants.
So, could a trade or two be on the way for NY in the coming days/weeks. That could be the case, and Bleacher Report thinks a veteran wideout could be on his way out. In a new piece, Bleacher Report listed a player for each team to put on the trade block. Their pick for the Giants? Sterling Shepard. Yeah, this can't happen.
The NY Giants are expected to make some trades before Week 1
"Shepard is also about to enter a contract year, and the Giants have spent top 100 picks on wideouts during the last two drafts; (Wan'Dale) Robinson in 2022 and Jalin Hyatt in 2023, adding even more reasons for them to trade the Oklahoma product."Matt Holder
The fan-favorite WR is coming off back-to-back years with season-ending injuries, including his torn ACL in Week 3 of last September. Since then, though, Shepard has worked his tail off in his rehab and he's looked sharp this summer.
Throughout training camp, Shepard has been running crisp routes and showing head man Brian Daboll that he still has plenty left in the tank to contribute for this offense. Shepard is going to want to make a splash early on and remind Big Blue Nation that he can be a top target for Daniel Jones.
Things haven't been easy for Shepard in recent years, but he's back in East Rutherford on a one-year contract, hoping to end his tenure with the Giants the right way. Trading him before he gets the opportunity to do so shouldn't even cross Schoen's mind - Shep deserves the chance to prove his doubters wrong this fall.
