If there's one thing that's been made clear with the 2024 free agency class for the NY Giants, it's that these guys are pumped up to be here. This of course includes new star pass-rusher Brian Burns, who landed a $150 million deal from Joe Schoen and Co. not long ago.
Burns has already made his way to East Rutherford and he's turning heads with not only his massive frame, but his way with words too. When discussing what he'll be able to provide for defensive coordinator Shane Bowen's unit, Burns provided an answer that likely has a lot of people ready to run through a wall.
Brian Burns is ready to be a playmaker for the New York Giants
It only took six words, but Burns has people in New York and New Jersey counting down the days for Week 1 to get here. Schoen made it a priority to improve the pass-rush moving forward and he did just that by trading for Burns.
Over the past two seasons, Burns has 20.5 sacks to his name. The idea of him, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Dexter Lawrence going to work in the trenches has to be a complete and total nightmare for not only opposing linemen, but quarterbacks as well.
Burns has a ton of confidence and rightfully so. He's now one of the highest-paid pass-rushers in the game and people are going to hope he can live up to the hype. Now that he's in the New York market and far away from Charlotte, tons of eyes will be on him, waiting for him to disappoint.
The new Giants outside linebacker knows the pressure that comes with donning a Big Blue jersey, but it sure looks like he's ready to answer the call. Burns and other new players for NY are saying all of the right things, which is both refreshing and awesome.
However, everything will change once the pads come on. The new faces will have to deliver, but there shouldn't be any doubt at all that Burns will make countless head-turning plays for this defense in 2024 and beyond.
