Christmas could be coming early later this month for NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. After Darren Waller and Parris Campbell have been added for the aerial attack, we could see an elite wide receiver join the party via the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
The G-Men have been linked to several players leading up the first round, with the long list including TCU wideout Quentin Johnston. The Giants have high interest in the outside WR. Both Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen were on hand for the TCU Pro Day earlier in the week. If Johnston is still on the board at No. 25 overall, we'd be shocked if he didn't hear his name called. CBS Sports agrees with us.
CBS has the Giants taking Quentin Johnston in the first round of the NFL Draft
""Kenny Golladay completely flopped in New York, so the new regime gets Daniel Jones another big-bodied WR (Quentin Johnston) with a penchant for the big play." "CBS' Kyle Stackpole
Checking in at 6-3, 208 pounds, Johnston has the ideal size for an outside WR. As Stackpole noted, the Kenny Golladay experiment was a nightmare in East Rutherford, as he's been officially released. Now, a new playmaker is needed for Danny Dimes.
Johnston very well could end up being that guy. Another popular name mentioned several times for the Giants has been Boston College's Zay Flowers. Flowers was superb at the NFL Combine and he has already scheduled a Top 30 visit with the G-Men.
In this latest mock draft, though, CBS has Flowers going to the Ravens as No. 22 overall. Baltimore is also in need of a new wideout, though no one knows who their QB will be in 2023. That's not a problem for the Giants, as Jones is set for another big year. If Schoen can bring him in another WR, it will only help this offense overall. Will it be Johnston? A lot of fans out there hope so.
