CBS Mock Draft has the Giants trading down and reaching for a CB in Round 1

Fans would not like this decision one bit from Joe Schoen

We don't want to be too dramatic, but jobs could be on the line for the NY Giants sooner rather than later if general manager Joe Schoen doesn't make magic happen in the NFL Draft. The assumption is the G-Men will either bring in a new stud quarterback or land a superstar wideout at No. 6 overall.

However, CBS Sports doesn't think either is going to happen come April 25. In a new mock draft from reporter Tom Fornelli, he has the Giants trading the No. 6 pick to the Las Vegas Raiders. With that pick, Vegas takes Jayden Daniels. As part of the trade package, the Giants will receive pick No. 13, and bring in Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell. Say it ain't so!

The Giants targeting a cornerback in the first round would be shocking

"I love Quinyon Mitchell. I love his size. I love his length. I love his athleticism. I love his tenacity. I want to get all that out of the way before I say the dumb thing I'm about to say. I love all of it, but am I the only one concerned about a corner from the MAC? There isn't exactly a long list of success stories! The concern isn't enough to keep me from drafting him, but my big dumb brain has big dumb thoughts it wants to share."

Tom Fornelli

No disrespect to Mitchell, but the Giants taking him with the No. 13 pick would be the textbook definition of a draft night blunder. Yes, the Giants need a new cornerback on the opposite side of the field from Deonte Banks, but is Mitchell worth it? We really don't think so.

In Fornelli's mock, the fact that Daniels is available at No. 6 overall also doesn't sit well with us. The Giants would 100 percent have to draft him if he's on the board when Big Blue is on the clock. Imagine he is, but then Schoen makes this trade that Fornelli has in mind - people would lose their minds.

Hey, we'd even prefer to see Malik Nabers, Rome Odunze or even J.J. McCarthy brought in at No. 6. All three of those guys, and other studs, would be there for the taking for NY if Schoen doesn't make a move. Mitchell could prove to be a standout CB in this league, but we're not ready to find out. Take Daniels at No. 6 if he's there, Mr. Schoen. Don't make us beg.
