C.J. Stroud takes shot at Aaron Rodgers while showing love to Eli Manning

It's easy to understand why Stroud made this pick.

The 2023 NFL Draft class was filled with a bunch of talented players and C.J. Stroud was no exception. The Houston Texans drafted Stroud with their first-round pick and after Houston came into last year's regular season with a combined 11 wins over their last three years, he helped the Texans not only win the AFC South, but win a playoff game over the Cleveland Browns.

So, it looks like Houston found their quarterback of the future, as the former Ohio State standout put up excellent stats in his rookie season passing for over 4,000 yards with 23 touchdowns to just five interceptions. Stroud recently went on a podcast and showed NY Giants legend Eli Manning some love, while dropping a comment perhaps Aaron Rodgers won't be a huge fan of:

C.J. Stroud taking Eli Manning's career over Aaron Rodgers' is a no-brainer

When asked if he'd go with Manning's career or Rodgers', a simple "You want the rings, dawg" was great to hear. It was a bold statement made by the young signal-caller, one that we have to agree with in this case.

Manning went to two Super Bowls, beating the New England Patriots in 2008 and 2012 with Super Bowl XLII being perhaps the biggest upset in NFL history. In that game, Manning and the Giants knocked off the undefeated Patriots, spoiling their shot at history.

Rodgers has only appeared in one Super Bowl throughout his nearly 20 years in the NFL, as he and the Packers took down the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. So, despite Rodgers being league MVP four times throughout his career and Manning not winning league MVP, Stroud is still rolling with the Giants legend? Yup.

Stroud's statement proves that Super Bowl rings mean a lot more to him than winning league MVPs, which should fire up Texans fans. Stroud turned a Texans team that was in the basement of the AFC South for the last few years into a Super Bowl contender. He's dreaming of winning it all with the Texans and he's clearly using Manning as some motivation to make it happen.
