Commanders fans are begging for Ron Rivera to be fired after Giants took him to school
You just had a feeling people all over D.C. and Maryland would be furious with Commanders head coach Ron Rivera. On Sunday, the Commanders were heavy favorites to take down the NY Giants at FedEx Field. There was no way Washington would blow it, right?
As we all know by now, that's exactly what happened, with the G-Men taking down Rivera and Co. 31-19. If you thought things have been a mess for the Giants, well, the same can be said for their NFC East rivals. Commanders supporters are so upset, they've been all over social media pleading for the front office to fire both Ron Rivera and Jack Del Rio.
The Giants upset win over Washington has Commanders fans losing their minds
With the Giants starting Tommy DeVito, local fans at FedEx Field must have been thinking Washington would have a walk in the park taking down the Giants. Instead, DeVito tossed for a career-high three touchdowns and the Giants defense forced five turnovers - Washington had six total on the day. Because of that, Rivera is getting blasted:
Following the loss to the Giants, the Commanders are now 4-7 on the season. Meanwhile for Big Blue, they're 3-8 on the campaign, but they've got some very winnable contests coming up over the next two games at MetLife Stadium.
Come this weekend, Brian Daboll and his men will host the New England Patriots. Offensively, the Pats have been a bit of a nightmare, with Mac Jones living up to his first-round bust reputation. Then after that, the Giants will have a BYE before taking on the Packers at MetLife Stadium for Monday Night Football.
That's another contest the Giants could come out on top of. If they do, then NY will improve to 5-8 on the year. As for Washington, losing to NY on Sunday felt like rock bottom for the organization. Rivera has been a total disappointment and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him fired before the season ends. If that happens, we could look back on this Giants win for what got the wheels in motion.
