Cryptic Brandon Aiyuk social media post has Giants fans dreaming of a trade
Nothing like a little wide receiver drama to spice up the offseason. For everyone in San Francisco, nothing but anger has been present since the 49ers blew it in the Super Bowl against the Chiefs. People are downright furious. Could this prove to be a gain for the NY Giants?
Shortly after SF lost to Kansas City in Las Vegas, standout wideout Brandon Aiyuk took to social media to show that he's pretty dang upset with his lack of usage against the KC defense. Since then, trade rumors have been flying all over the place. With that, plenty of Big Blue supporters are hoping Joe Schoen makes a call or two to the Bay Area:
Could the NY Giants try and trade for 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk?
Aiyuk is coming off a sensational campaign for San Francisco, but it's easy to see why he's ticked off he didn't get the ball more with the Lombardi Trophy on the line. In the defeat to Patrick Mahomes and Co., Aiyuk posted just three receptions for 49 yards. Him saying, 'Don't forget what got you there' is quite telling.
During the regular season, Aiyuk was downright fantastic for Kyle Shanahan's offense, finishing the year with 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. That's the kind of production you'd expect from a player of his caliber. So, why was he basically unused in the Super Bowl? Who knows.
Last offseason, there was buzz the Giants could try and trade for Aiyuk, but nothing ended up happening. Now, though, that buzz is back and he'd no question become the WR1 for the Giants that Daniel Jones so desperately needs.
Trading for Aiyuk won't come cheap and he also has a cap hit of $14 million for 2024. However, Schoen is a magician and you can never count him out from doing anything. Aiyuk is a playmaker through and through. In our opinion, he'd look pretty damn good rocking G-Men gear too.
