The gloom from Sunday's total collapse vs. the Jets is still present for NY Giants fans, but thankfully some positive news has arrived on Monday morning. That news is that Daniel Jones could be back this weekend to start vs. the Raiders, one week earlier than people thought.

According to Ryan Dunleavy, the $160 million quarterback has officially been cleared for contact. Jones has missed the past three games with a neck injury, including the 13-10 defeat to Gang Green. However, with the Giants at 2-6 and desperate for a win on Sunday, Danny Dimes will hope to make his return this weekend vs. the Raiders.

Finally. Jones' 2023 season has been a major disappointment thus far, with him only throwing for 884 yards, two touchdowns and six interceptions on the campaign. Ths neck injury suffered vs. the Dolphins in Week 5 only made things worse for him and head man Brian Daboll.

Everyone saw just how much Jones was missed against the Jets. While Tyrod Taylor had looked solid at times as Jones' backup, the veteran QB went down with a rib cage injury against the Jets and he left the game before halftime - he spent the night at the hospital too.

Because of this, rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito, who went undrafted and signed with the Giants as an UDFA, took over under center. DeVito had a rushing score on the day, but it was clear from the jump that Daboll and Mike Kafka weren't going to trust him throwing the ball.

On the day, the Giants finished with -9 passing yards. We don't blame you if you think that's a typo, but it's not. DeVito can't see playing time moving forward if the staff doesn't think he can throw the ball eight yards downfield. With Jones' injury history, general manager Joe Schoen should make it a priority to bring in a new QB regardless of if Danny Dimes can start vs. Las Vegas or not, especially with Taylor banged up as well.
