Daniel Jones made Seahawks CB eat his words with unreal performance in Seattle
It's time to finally put some respect on his name. NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has been solid this season. Yes, Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings was a train wreck, but since then, Danny Dimes has looked like a veteran running Brian Daboll's offense. This was once again the case in the Week 5 win over the Seahawks.
Over in Seattle, Jones completed 23-of-34 pass attempts for 257 yards and two touchdowns - Wan'Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton each caught TDs from the QB. This was a total 180 from what we saw from Jones in primetime against Seattle last campaign.
Last October, the Seahawks traveled to East Rutherford and Jones looked awful, tossing two interceptions. One of those INTs was taken back to the house 97 yards by Devon Witherspoon for a back-breaking pick-six. After that game, Witherspoon trolled Jones, saying, "We knew he liked to stare down his first target." Ouch. What does Witherspoon have to say now? We'd love this thoughts on this Jones dime to Slayton:
Daniel Jones was able to get some sweet revenge on the Seahawks
It wasn't long ago that Jones was considered a laughingstock. People were calling for Drew Lock to replace him as the team's QB1. After five games, though, the narrative has changed and Jones has been sharp. Through his first five contests, he has thrown for 1,138 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions.
After throwing for two touchdowns and six interceptions in six games last year, it is safe to say he has turned things around in the best way possible. It helps that he has a solid offensive line now protecting him, which was the case against the Seattle defense.
There's still a long way to go in the campaign, but thus far, Jones is doing a fantastic job in silencing his haters. He has been an easy target in terms of bashing, but over the past month or so, he has been the kind of QB Joe Schoen and Daboll were hoping he'd be. If he can keep cooking, the Bengals will be in trouble once Week 6's Sunday Night Football arrives.
